Burundi, RDC AND Rwanda adopt a Regional Action Plan on

UNSCR 1325

 

Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS), in collaboration with the Ministries of Gender of the three countries, organized a meeting the 14 and 15 February 2011 in Kinshasa

Burundi, DRC and Rwanda met to discuss about Regional Action Plan on the implementation of Resolution 1325 through the integration of women in conflict prevention, peace processes and post-conflict reconstruction in the Great Lakes Region. This event, organized by Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) in collaboration with the Ministries of Gender,  put together Governments actors, Civil Society organizations and international stakeholders from the three countries in the Grand Hotel in Kinshasa the 14 and 15 February 2011.

This 2nd Regional Consultation took place within the sub-regional project "National Action Plans (NAPs) on the implementation of UNSCR 1325 in Burundi, DRC and Rwanda" initiated by FAS and supported by the Government of Finland. The organization of a Regional Consultation is in line with the project's goal of adopting design a regional perspective on UNSCR 1325. Indeed, the 3 countries share common borders and similar historical experiences in conflict management and women's experiences in war situations.
