Femme Africa Solidarité (FAS) mission to Liberia will take place from July 5th to 9th, 2010 in the context of the project “implementing National Action Plans for UNSCR 1325 in the Mano River”. In partnership with the Angie Brooks International Center, a five day workshop entitled “Enhancing Women’s Participation in Peace Building in Post Conflict and Crisis Prone Countries” is organized to help women from the Mano River Union countries acquire the skills needed to engage in mediation and conflict resolution.
The objectives of the workshop include teaching the participants to become problem solvers at the community and national levels. FAS conceived this project within the overall goal of using UNSCR1325 to contribute to lasting and equitable peace in the MANO river region and beyond. In line with FAS’s long term commitment to engage women at the forefront of peace and security agendas, the project is an opportunity to re assess women’s experiences of post conflict reconstruction, their role in SSR and their political representation.
