Unlocking the Potential of Women to Combat Climate Change: Moving from Words to Action
Women are an essential ingredient to make significant advancements in climate change. On 4 October 2011, Bineta Diop, Executive Director of FAS addressed the World Bank Africa Regional Management Team at their retreat held at the IMF Headquarters in Washington, D.C., United States. The focus of the daylong discussions was on Gender Equality and Development, which is the theme of the 2012 World Bank World Development Report .
Ms. Diop spoke on Reducing the Vulnerability of African Women and Promoting Resilience and suggested that the Bank hold Open Days for women annually in its field offices to promote discussion and the sharing of ideas between the World Bank and African women.
