African women who attended the 12th Consultative meeting on gender mainstreaming in the African Union held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt from June 21 -23, 2008, agreed to send a Women's Solidarity Mission to Zimbabwe to support women of that country after the Presidential Run-off election on June 27, 2008. full text >>

T wenty-six women entrepreneurs from seven African countries attended a two-day training session aimed at mentoring them to develop their businesses.
The training ran from 16th -18th June, in Dakar, Senegal and the participants came from South Africa, DR Congo, Liberia, Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal and one from the Diaspora. It was organised by the Pan-African Centre for Gender, Peace and Development of FAS and the Centre for Diversity in Global Management at the Instituto de Empresa (IE) of Spain. full text >>

On 7 December, 2007, Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) was elected as a member of the Board of the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CONGO). Elected with 64 votes, FAS will serve on the Board for three years. The Board oversees the work of CONGO between sessions of the CONGO General Assembly. full text >>

On October 31, 2007, Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) was elected along with seven other continental civil society organisations to the General Assembly of the African Union’s Economic Social and Cultural Council. Since returning from the research and solidarity mission in eastern Chad, Bineta Diop, Executive Director of Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS), has been working tirelessly to bring the voices of Darfur's and Chad's refugee and internally displaced women to the international community.
