NGO Forum

The NGO Forum organized by the African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) based in Banjul, Gambia, is actively preparing the NGO forum to be held in Banjul from 7 - 9, November, 2009.

The Forum is one of the main advocacy tools that the Centre uses to promote networking among Human Rights NGOs, for the promotion and protection of human rights in Africa.

The ACDHRS hosts the Forum to deliberate generally on the human rights situation in Africa in order to attract the attention of the African Commission in particular and the international community and other concerned bodies.
This Forum aims to foster closer collaboration and co-operation among NGOs, and the African Commission for promotion and protection human rights in Africa, further, to promote inter-regional/organizational networking for the implementation of decisions of the Forum as contained in the ACHPR communiqué.

The main themes for discussion at the Forum will involve topics of Human Rights and Democracy Situation in Africa as well as Beijing Plus 15 Review meeting and 30th Anniversary of CEDAW and the International Criminal Court.
During the Forum, the 20th African Human Rights Book Fair and the public sessions of the Commission will also be organized to enable NGOs network and initiate or renew, the exchange of materials and information, as well as to publicize their activities.
