
The main focus of the course is the role of Media in conflict prevention and conflict transformation, Media coverage of women in conflict and feminist media. It will also tackle how the media perpetuates patriarchal behaviors in different cultures and critical analysis and debates on Media and its role in and influence on concepts of Power and Gender will be fostered.
The Course will provide a dynamic and open space for academic and intellectual enrichment as well as for the exchange of practical knowledge and experience from the different environments of the participants. Concepts of gender-sensitive intervention methods will be organized around real-world application of theoretical debates. Special attention will be paid to contemporary case studies on Media and Conflict and the role of Media in peace processes.
The main objective of the project is to recruit 30 women and men working in the field of peace and Media, including Media and communications professionals (in civil society organisations, women's grassroots organisations, and other institutions), to reinforce their skills and allow them to refine their approach to issues of Media coverage during and after conflict.
The objectives of the project are the following:
- To clarify concepts, terms and definitions of Gender, Media and Conflict;
- To strengthen the capacity of participants in the areas of Media coverage before, during and after conflict with a focus on Gender;
- To empower Media professionals and people working in communication;
- To create a critical mass on gender issues among Media professionals.

Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) and the University for Peace (UPEACE) have organised a short course on Human Rights and Transitional Justice.
The course was attended by experts, researchers and university professors specialising in the field of gender and peace.
The short course brought together practitioners, researchers and people working with Regional and International Institutions and NGOs for the five day workshop which aimed to improve the participants skills and expertise on issues regarding gender and peace building.
The specific aims of this workshop were:
- To present and discuss specific aspects of gender and conflict management;
- To clarify terms, definitions and key concepts of human rights and transitional justice in Africa;
- To examine the gender dimension in transitional justice and violations of human rights during conflict and its
transformation into peace;
- To empower women as actors of change;
- To examine the use of video and other training methods and materials;
- To share experiences and lessons learned;
- To create networks of people involved in gender issues specifically relating to peace.

This first workshop in a series of projected training activities was attended by practitioners, researchers and individuals from institutes, regional and international organisations and civil society organisations (CSOs) in order to broaden their skills of gender and peacebuilding.
The objectives of this course were:

- Women Movement for Peace and Security in Africa : 10 years of Practice
The "Training and Mentoring Program for Women-Led Business", has been developed by Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) together with the Center for Diversity in Global Management at the Instituto de Empresa (IE) and submitted to the Government of Spain to target and work with 24 women who have established business enterprises with strong growth potential.
The goal is to assist in the transformation and expansion of their businesses into consolidated mid-sized enterprises, generating employment and economic benefits. To reach this end, the program will employ a tri-edged approach: equipping, empowering and connecting.
The participants will be equipped with the skills, content knowledge and ICT (Information and communication technology) tools needed to succeed in their environment.
Furthermore, the participants are empowered by the expertise and experience of individual mentors who will work with them to help in the implementation of new practices and business strategies. Finally, the program aims to connect participants in open forums where they can network, collaborate and exchange ideas with relevant parties in their business sector and find financial support for the development of their businesses.
