Programme Officer Assistant - Regional Office - Dakar, SENEGAL

Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) has an unpaid internship position in its Regional office in Dakar, Senegal. The internship is for a minimum period of 6 months.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) and the Programme Officer, the Programme Officer Intern will be responsible for assisting in formulating, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating FAS's projects in support of its programme for engendering the peace process in Africa.

Principal duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Supporting the Programme Officer with the preparation, implementation and evaluation processes of the ongoing FAS projects in the Mano River and Great Lakes regions as well as in DRC and Sudan.
2. Preparing supporting documentation for internal and external meetings and FAS events; drafting minutes, activity reports and any other follow up documentation.
3. Assisting and provide support to the preparation of missions, conferences and workshops; preparing travel arrangements and documentation for participants, drafting agenda, administrative note, concept note and lists of participants, sending invitation and thank you letters.
4. Assisting in the development and preparation of project proposals, grant submissions and other fundraising activities.
5. Contacting and sending letters to FAS network and participants regarding the ongoing projects of the Programme Officer.
6. Research and analyse gender, peace and security issues (current events affecting women in Africa, issues in and affecting African conflicts).
7. Supporting the coordination of the different offices of FAS and the different sections in FAS Dakar (Pan African Centre, Communication and Information, Administration and Finance).
8. Assist the Executive Director and FAS staff with other tasks as required.

Profile

MA in social sciences, international relations or related subjects:
- Fluency in English and French is required;
- Experience of working as a team, preferably in an international environment;
- Evidence of strategic thinking and proven ability to organize, plan and prioritize work;
- Knowledge of, and appreciation for issues related to gender and conflict;
